Blue Folder Mail on Coolify / CapRover

Self-host PaaS: a dashboard that runs on your own VPS and gives you deploys, volumes and automatic TLS — the convenience of Render on a box you own.

Good fit
These wrap the same Docker image with a UI, persistent volumes and Let's Encrypt. Just remember to mount a volume so your data survives redeploys.

Prerequisites

Coolify

  1. New resource → from your Git repo Point Coolify at your fork; it builds the included Dockerfile. Set the exposed port to 8080.
  2. Add a persistent volume

Mount one at /data so the SQLite index and sealed blobs survive redeploys.

  3. Environment variables

Set RESEND_API_KEY, a random INBOUND_SECRET, and BASIC_AUTH_USER / BASIC_AUTH_PASS. Assign your domain — Coolify gets the TLS cert automatically. Deploy and create your mailbox.

CapRover

  1. Create an app Name it, then deploy from your repo (or caprover deploy). It builds the Dockerfile; set the container HTTP port to 8080.
  2. Add persistent data

In App Configs → Persistent Directories, map /data to a named volume.

  3. Env vars & HTTPS

Add RESEND_API_KEY, INBOUND_SECRET and the BASIC_AUTH_* pair. Enable HTTPS on the app's domain (one click, Let's Encrypt). Deploy.

Storage & sending

Receiving mail — the honest part

Recommended — webhook

Point a provider (Mailgun, SendGrid, Postal, Resend inbound) at https://mail.example.com/_inbound with the secret as the x-inbound-secret header or ?secret=…, forwarding full raw MIME.

Even on your own VPS, running the built-in SMTP MTA needs a static IP with rDNS, correct MX and SPF/DKIM/DMARC, and a clean IP — and most hosts block port 25. Use the webhook unless you run mail infrastructure.
